Bra hooks can bend, loosen, or snag when they are pulled too hard, washed with heavy items, or caught on other fabric. Sometimes the problem is care; sometimes it is a sign that the band is under more strain than it should be.
Fasten Hooks Before Washing
Close the hooks before putting a bra in the laundry. This reduces snagging on knitwear, lace, and straps. A mesh laundry bag gives the hardware an extra layer of protection when you use a machine.

Keep Heavy Items Away
Jeans, towels, and bulky clothes can twist or pull delicate hardware in a wash. If possible, wash bras with lightweight items on a gentle cycle, or hand wash them. Afterward, let them air dry rather than using high heat.
Check Whether the Band Is Too Stressed
A band that feels excessively tight may put more pull on the closure whenever you fasten it. A supportive band should feel secure, but it should still allow normal breathing and movement. If a hook repeatedly bends on a newer bra, compare another band size or extension option rather than forcing it closed.

Store Hooks So They Do Not Catch
Fasten hooks before storing the bra in a drawer. This keeps them from catching on straps or lace and makes it easier to pick up the next bra without a snag.

Care can prevent ordinary damage. If a hook is bent sharply, broken, or no longer closes reliably, stop wearing that bra until it is repaired or replaced.
