Hooks, straps, and lightweight fabric can easily catch on other items in a wash. A little preparation helps protect both your bras and the clothing around them, especially when you use a machine rather than hand washing.
Fasten the Hooks First
Close the hooks before the bra goes near a wash basket. This reduces the chance that they catch on knitwear, lace, or straps. It also helps keep the bra from twisting around other pieces during the cycle.

Use a Mesh Laundry Bag
Place one or two bras in a zippered mesh bag and avoid filling it too tightly. The bag helps separate them from heavier clothes while still allowing water and detergent to move through. Choose a gentle cycle and cool water if the care label allows machine washing.
Keep Heavy Items Separate
Jeans, towels, and bulky hoodies can bend cups and pull on straps. Wash delicate pieces with other lightweight items, or hand wash them when you have time. A gentler load is easier on elastic as well as hardware.

Air Dry After Washing
Skip the dryer unless the label explicitly says it is safe. Press excess water out gently, then lay the bra flat on a towel or support it on a drying rack. Heat can shorten the life of elastic and alter the shape you rely on.

These small habits keep laundry simpler and make it easier for a bra to keep its intended fit.
